Bette Davis went above and beyond to play her role as Queen Elizabeth. She agreed to have her hairline shaved back THREE inches and her eyebrows shaved off! She was considered one of the most beautiful hollywood actresses but she didn't want this to show in this film. She went out of her way to look grotesque. The makeup artist was Perc Westmore (Bette Davis only) and Ben Nye.
